Embellished Wedding Shoes

I have always loved a good statement shoe (I’m getting visions of leopard print heels I wore in college. Yikes!) and what a better opportunity to wear beautiful shoes than for your wedding or photoshoot? Should you go with simple and elegant? Or make this like the once-in-a-lifetime event that it is and be bold? While I love the luxe of a designer item, I don’t necessarily love the designer price-tag. Here, I’ve compiled a list of gem-toned and embellished wedding shoes ranging from under $100 to over $1000.

Maybe it’s because Sarah Jessica Parker is back frolicking around the streets of Manhattan in the Sex and the City reboot, And Just Like That, but I am seeing gem-toned and embellished heels everywhere. If you aren’t familiar with the Sex and The City film, SJP’s character, Carrie, wears these incredible silk Hangisi stilettos in a sapphire blue with crystal embellishment by Manolo Blahnik. They are her wedding shoe of choice and are quintessential Carrie.

She has a complicated wedding experience and the shoes act almost as Cinderella glass slippers to rekindle her relationship with her fiancé, Mr. Big. While she is figuring out what to do about being stood-up at the altar, so-to-speak, her beloved Manolos are waiting in the incredible apartment she and Mr. Big were to live in together. When Carrie has to do a final walk-through to give the keys to the apartment back, there’s Mr. Big, standing in her brightly-lit closet, holding the shoes. What a scene! I can’t even mention the scene they reappear in the new series, it’s just traumatic and I don’t want to be a spoiler. The entire series of SATC, Carrie has a deep love for Manolos and they become symbolic. They are the perfect balance of glam and spirited, much like Carrie’s personality.

If you are a follower of the fashion-scene, you may have also seen influencers or other trendsetters wearing the eye-catching Mach & Mach silver Double Bow Crystal-Embellished Glittered Pumps. I just love how these shimmer in the light! I had to buy a similar pair, because they are just so glamorous. They are hard not to notice in a sea of Nikes and Columia boots around here in Portland.

Sometimes I can’t help but wonder, do we choose the shoes or do the shoes choose us?
